Friel Architects provide a range of specialist consultancy services in the construction section including:
Our combined experience of over 40 years in the design and construction sector, the majority of which was a senior manger/director level in major national and international architectural practices, has given us unique insights, both into the business of designing and procuring buildings and into the business of managing design practices. We can draw on all facets of this experience to support clients in the resolution of legal disputes. We are currently providing support as expert witness and advisor to a number of legal practices in addition to advising both clients and architectural practices on a range of disputes.
We assist client with site assessments and project viability studies and have a particular expertise in the drafting of project briefs, including schedules of accommodation, proximity diagrams and operational statements.
We specialise in site development strategies and development control plans, with a particular focus on the educational and the transport/ infrastructural sectors. The practice has just completed a review and update of the campus master plan for University College Cork.
Our experience in the procurement and delivery of major projects reflects our involvement in a number of major PPP and public-sector projects such as the National Maritime College of Ireland, Westmeath Civic Offices, Thornton Hall Prison and currently Metro North. We work with and advise contractors, design teams and other project team members through all stages of the procurement process in matters such as consortium pre-qualification, short-listing, tender submission procedures, assessments and contract placement.
